“Float like a Butterfly and Sting like a Bee”.

Onegai-shimasu Ueshiro SRKUSA Worldwide
and Happy Holidays and a Healthy and Strong New Year to all of you!

When working your karate training, remind yourself with every count Muhammad Ali’s famous quote to “Float like a Butterfly and Sting like a Bee”.

Start each movement with maximum agility (i.e., without muscling it), so that you can easily and rapidly accelerate to maximum speed and power.

Practice the Yin-Yang in each of your counts. The Yin being the fluid-light start of the movement ("float like a butterfly") till you get your feet planted and hands chambered — immediately followed by the Yang, being the "pedal to the metal”, full acceleration to maximum speed and power, knockout strike, precisely through the target (“sting like a bee” or smash like a bull).
