Challenge Your Limits, Don’t Limit Your Challenges

Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Denshi, Shihan, Sensei, and Deshi across the globe—
Challenge Your Limits, Don’t Limit Your Challenges
Training for years under Master Ueshiro and Hanshi Scaglione we have all heard the mantra to do more, to get lower…even lower! To make the arm straighter…more straight! Through these words we are learning and training our mind to challenge or go past our perceived limits. Yes, you can get lower in jigotai-dachi! Yes, you can do 100 squats! Yes, you can execute Fukyugata Sandan 100 times!
In a TFTW on 1 January 2001, Hanshi urged all Deshi to “Challenge Complacency”, he continues to issue that challenge every day. Use the words and examples from Hanshi, from your Shihan, from your Sensei, to do more, to erase doubt, and to allow positive attitude to guide the body toward new goals and higher achievement.
By challenging our limits and exceeding goals we strive to reach a state of continuous improvement, a cycle that never has to end if we continue to push ourselves. That can come in the form of putting on a gi for the first time, squatting for 10 more minutes, learning the next kata, opening a Dojo, or even showing up for the 55th Anniversary Celebration in Florida. Find a way push beyond limits to do more…
