Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Denshi, Sensei, Shihan and Fellow Deshi,

Our warm-ups not only prepare our bodies for training but they can also help develop aspects our techniques.  For example, when our hands are open during warm-ups, our fingers should not be splayed apart.  Even if the thumb may be separated on the belt at times, the other fingers should be tight together and the wrist straight, as they would in a knife hand position.  As another example, we should keep our eyes open and scanning in front (or behind) us when stretching, never having them lose focus in transit or dwell on the ceiling or floor (although they will likely look there briefly in certain transits, as we do not distort the stretch or crane the neck).

Let us use the warm-ups to develop our techniques as we

Keep Training . . .

Domo arigato gozimasu to all,
Sensei Emiliano Mazlen
