"Do Not Seek to Follow in the Footsteps of the Wise.
Rather, Seek What They Sought." ---Basho

This quote captures the essence of our basic tenet to
"Keep Moving Forward". As we continually strive to
improve ourselves and our system of Karate we follow
this concept. We do not just follow, rather we expand
our minds and learn how to gain knowledge of what the
Masters knew and use that information to allow
ourselves to grow. For me this thought is emphasized
by how Kyoshi has provided guidance and advise to me
time and time again. No matter the question I ask,
Kyoshi does not just simply provide the answer, but he
challenges me to seek the answer myself and fully
explore the subject while steering me in the right
direction. I learn not only what I had asked, but I
also have gained insight as to how and why the answer
is correct. In this way the student trains to not
merely follow, but to become a leader also.
