The importance of the correct time to block

It is important to know what the correct time to block an attack is.
Through the kata and yakusoku kumite we learn different timing for blocking and attacking.
When in front of an opponent that is getting ready to attack, people may get anxious and block too early. On the other hand there are people that may block too late.
In both instances the receiver will not be able to block the attack in time.
Therefore, in karate we learn to be patient and wait for our opponent to make the first move in an attack. Only then should you block.
