Chokuritsu-fudo-dachi (Formal Attention Stance)

Commonly known as the Yoi or ready position for the
Fukyugata 1, 2 and 3.

Detailed on page 59 of Master Nagamine's text.
The photo (fig.4) is "worth a thousand words".

notes:
Make a "big" appearance with the posture ( warrior type spirited
attitude).
Hands position and placement (the hands are displayed at a certain angle,
in a shuto hand position, not pointing straight down, not touching the
gi.)
Arms are slightly bent.
Toes point outward a certain angle.
Wrist are straight and in view, ankles should also be exposed.
Tense the stomach muscles, chest out, stand tall/erect.
Attitude..mental and physical is everything for this posture, as with all
postures
and techniques of the kata.
Also see page 104 figs.1 and 2.( all the above mentioned notes apply to the attention and bowing postures).
Also see page 57, Kamaekata (Ready stances) with accompanying photos
and description on page 58.

Research this well.
Keep training.

Arigato,
Kyoshi Robert Scaglione.
